Harrisburg police were called to a report of an armed robbery at gunpoint in the area of South 13th and Berryhill streets around 8 a.m.
Upon arrival, the woman told them she was walking along the street when she was approached by a man she did not know who "displayed a handgun and ordered the victim to engage in sexual acts with him. The victim attempted to fight the suspect off and was struck by the suspect. The suspect then took items belonging to the victim and fled the area on foot," the police detail in the release.
The police later observed a man matching the suspect’s description, but e fled and led them on a foot chase. When they eventually caught up to the man they found "property belonging to the victim, items that were taken in the robbery, were recovered," as stated in the release.
The man has been identified as 18-year-old Giovanni Hall of Harrisburg.
He was been held in the Dauphin County Prison after being denied bail.
Hall has been charged with four felonies for rape, armed robbery, and firearm offenses; seven misdemeanors for tampering with evidence, terroristic threats, and evading; as well as a summary offense for drug charges.
His preliminary hearing has been set before Magisterial District Judge Paul T. Zozos on January 31 at 9:15 a.m.
